Vegas Boudoir Shoot at The Barbie Suite

It has been a dream of mine for a couple years now to shoot in the ultimate girl room, The Barbie Suite at The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Last week that dream came true when one of my best friends and amazing boudoir photographers, Jennifer Williams, hosted The Boudoir Shoot Out during WPPI (a photographers convention). We had been planning something for Vegas but at pretty much the last hour came up with the idea to do a shoot out with a day and night section. We hired experienced models, those just starting out their portfolios and girls next door with no experience. We flew in Kelly Trerise from Vancouver for makeup and hair who did an amazing job with each girl.

Since Jen and I were hosting we didn’t get a lot of chances for shooting (next year, this is totally changing- I am experiencing photo envy SO bad!). BUT, I did manage to sneak in a few shots here and there with some ninja moves on the floor;)Since the lovely Andrea was in a larger space for shooting it was easy for me to sneak in and get some shots of her. I was maybe in there 5 minutes when I got all of these. Photographers: all were shot with the Lowel ID Light, some with a dimmer.

I adore these and cannot wait to send them off to Andrea! It was a bit out of my comfort zone because I do love my natural light. After this shoot out it even gave me that extra confidence boost to get out and experiment with some different lighting. Stepping outside of your comfort zone, is after all, the best way to grow.

Before and Afters

Every once and awhile I love to share some before and afters since it is such a large part of the process. After all the sessions I narrow your images down to a certain amount of proofs. From there the client picks their images that they want edited. And then there is the editing step of the process. The first images are the straight out of camera image and then following is all edited.

Hey Leah, what is the “Revolution” you suggest photographers to check out?

Nykki Hilbert - June 12, 2011 - 7:31 pm

I am a photographer just venturing in the area of boudoir. What program are you using to edit the photos? I have CS5 but i am not that familiar with it as yet. Any suggestions will be very helpful.
