Couples Boudoir Photography

If you’re a facebook fan of mine than you have definitely seen a couple of these already as I have shown some sneak peaks here and there. C is a past boudoir client and she brought her hubby back for a couples session! I’ve been speaking so highly of couples sessions lately and think it’s the perfect photo session for you and your significant other! C also answered some questions regarding her couples session:)

Why did you decide to do a couples session?
I thought it would be a lot of fun. I loved how you did my boudoir
photos and wanted something like that with Bob. Plus, any opportunity to
roll around the sheets with my hubby is a good one;)

Where you nervous?
wasn’t nervous. I obviously have no problem taking my clothes off
(hence me changing within 15 minutes of getting there), but I think Bob
was more nervous. I’m happy with where my body is right now, so that is
always helpful. I just don’t think Bob quite knew what to expect.

What was your favorite thing about the experience?
My favorite part was the side bar stuff, the joking with each other
and such. You make the experience so casual and relaxed, that you can’t
help but joke around.

Do you recommend this to other couples and why?
I think this is a great opportunity to show your love for each other
and to document it. I don’t know if its brought us closer or not, but
its something that I think we will both love looking back on and
remember how much fun we had. People are intimate, and there is no
reason why not to show it. I think this is a great way to do that, and
to really connect with each other. Your love shows up on the film.

What is your favorite image?
I think my favorite image is the one where I am straddling Bob and
its shot showing his back. I love the shapes created by his back and my
arms. Its pretty hot!

These are amazing! One day I want you to shoot a couples boudoir for me and my hubby. Maybe I’ll make the trip down to Portland!

Whitley Pollet - May 17, 2010 - 7:32 pm

I love every single one of these! Your work is so inspirational :)

Wendy - May 17, 2010 - 7:33 pm

wow Leah, you’ve really perfected your craft! I don’t think I could ever do this, but these are amazing pics!

jennifer - May 17, 2010 - 9:39 pm

Love the last three. Their so intimate and amazing. Way to go!!

jennifer - May 17, 2010 - 9:40 pm

Wow, and I cannot spell, either!

I meant they’re… not their… gah!

Before and Afters

Every once and awhile I love to share some before and afters since it is such a large part of the process. After all the sessions I narrow your images down to a certain amount of proofs. From there the client picks their images that they want edited. And then there is the editing step of the process. The first images are the straight out of camera image and then following is all edited.

Hey look at that hottie :)

Heather - June 21, 2010 - 2:11 am

Hey Leah, what is the “Revolution” you suggest photographers to check out?

Nykki Hilbert - June 12, 2011 - 7:31 pm

I am a photographer just venturing in the area of boudoir. What program are you using to edit the photos? I have CS5 but i am not that familiar with it as yet. Any suggestions will be very helpful.

Email from client

Hi Leah,

I just wanted to say thank you again for the opportunity to work with
you. I am anxiously waiting for the final proofs to come in! But in
the mean time, I wanted to let you know that although these pictures
were for my husband (Matt) they were as much for me.

Like most women, I can be pretty self conscious. However, I also have
an eating disorder and suffer from body dysmorphia. Long story short,
I don’t like the way my body looks. However, seeing these pictures has
really helped the way that I view my body. Even the pictures where I
can see remnants of my stretch marks, evidence of my formal self…I
think it is beautiful.

I think that every woman should have the experience of boudoir
photography. I have gained so much more respect and love for my body.

Thank you.

Your daily dose of randon

There are a lot of questions I get asked but one is, “why don’t you have any professional images of yourself?” WELL, it’s because I am a photographer, I like to be BEHIND the camera, not in front of it. However, I realize the importance in making sure you all know who I am, probably what I look like before we meet and any other random information you want to know about me. BUT we are about to change that, I always prided myself on being an open book. Each and everyone of us has a completely different story to tell, a different path we choose for our lives, different joys and pains. When I was younger I was very known for my writing and I’m not really sure why or when I let go of it. I could write for hours and for me it was a great stress relief.  Now I use a different art form but would love to get back into writing and what better place to start than right here on my own blog.

So, I apologize in advance from the randomness you are about to receive but believe me, you’ll find plenty of laughing material!

So for now, lets play 5 questions, I think every week, maybe every Wednesday since this is when I started, I’ll answer 5 new questions. Feel free to throw a couple questions in the comment box to! Personal or work related, I’m down for anything!

1. How do you eat your Reese’s?
Outside first and then the middle. I LOVE the peanut butter!

2. Favorite colors?
Black, dark blue and green in no particular order. I want to wear more red but I have enough on my head:)

3. Favorite song?
Huge fan of Paperweight by Joshua Radin.

4. Goal for 2010?
I have a lot and am a very big goal maker. I have the mentality that nothing is ever big enough for me to conquer. I am moving to Portland this summer which is a very large goal of mine. I want to know I lived the best life I could with no fears or regrets. Another goal is to open a studio and really change the way boudoir is seen in Portland. Goal #3, Always better myself!:)

5. Must see travel destination?
Aruba! Go buy that plane ticket now, you won’t regret it!
